About this case

Requesting a Reissued Check from the Settlement between the Office of the New York State Attorney General and Papa John’s franchises

Were you eligible for a payment from the 2015 settlement between Papa John’s and the Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG)? If you did not cash your settlement check before it expired, you can get a reissued check.

You may have received a final notice from Simpluris, the settlement administrator.

Claim your funds

While the deadline to file a claim expired on January 19, 2023, you can still request Simpluris to reissue your check. The deadline to request a reissued check is February 28, 2026.

After that date, all unclaimed funds from the settlement will be forwarded to the New York State Comptroller’s Office of Unclaimed Funds.

If you still have not claimed your funds by February 28, 2026, you can claim them from the comptroller’s office. Starting on March 31, 2026, visit the comptroller’s unclaimed-funds website to find out if you are entitled to settlement funds and to claim your payment.

Please contact Simpluris at (888) 427-9231 with any questions about this case.

History of the settlement

Between 2008 and 2103, some workers at Papa John’s franchises in Harlem were not paid all their wages. The franchises were owned by Ronald Johnson and New Majority Holdings LLC.

The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) determined that, between 2008 and 2013, Ronald Johnson failed to pay certain workers their wages, as required by the New York Labor Law.

The OAG got a judgment in 2015 against New Majority Holdings LLC and Ronald Johnson in People of the State of New York v. New Majority Holdings LLC and Ronald Johnson, No. 452487 (Sup. Ct. N.Y. County) (2014).

Settlement administrator

The OAG hired Simpluris as the settlement administrator in this case. Simpluris has been sending notices to affected workers, processing claims payments, and answering affected workers’ questions.

For more information about this judgment and OAG’s lawsuit against New Majority Holdings and Ronald Johnson, read our 2015 press release.
